As I'm sitting here enjoying my own fika with myself (can you have fika by yourself?)...
My own fika, complete with kanelbullar. |
I put together a video of some amusing moments here in Uppsala. I laugh every time I watch this, but I think it may be a "had to be there" moment. Video is here on vimeo.
Also, last night I again tried my hand at Swedish cooking and made kötbullar. Mine did not come out nearly as round as the picture, but it was still yummy :)
Kötbuller. It sounds far more exotic in Swedish. They're meatballs :) |
Oh, and these are cool mushrooms that I found :)
I had to clean him off before taking a picture. |
They didn't explode. |

Those mushrooms look beautiful, but deadly! Now the meatballs on the other hand look delicious!

Hey, you posted! True, those are not the mushrooms to pick. When I was orienteering the other day the guy in the woods next to me stopped suddenly and bent down. I thought that maybe he dropped his epunch. He picked a mushroom and put it in his mapcase!
It is quite common this time of the year that some orienteers at every meet come back with their mapcases full of mushrooms (usually chanterelles)...

The pretty red ones with white specs are Amanitas; I would say Amanita muscaria if growing in the US. Definitely not one to put in the map case and take home for Ross to add to a meal.

It was chanterelles that he was picking! Ross and I haven't gone out mushroom picking yet, but maybe that is an activity for next week.
I sent Ross an e-mail, but in the event he's still not in the habit of checking it often I figured he (or you) may see a comment here more readily...
So tell him to check it :-)
Well, he actually did get back to you before you saw this, but good job covering all your bases.
